Jean M. Paulin, husband of Bertha (Richard) Paulin, of Cunard St, Miramichi passed away peacefully at Miramichi Regional Hospital on Friday evening, August 2, 2019 at the age of 93.
Born in Lameque on October 20, 1925 he was the son of Leon Paulin and Annie Hache. He was a veteran of World War II, and was deployed overseas as a sniper with the Regiment de la Chaudiere. He worked his career at CFS St Margarets as a diesel power plant operator, along with running several businesses. After retirement he was an active member of the Chatham Volunteer Ambulance Brigade, both as an ambulance attendant and a first aid instructor. His leisure activities included snowmobiling and racing outboard and inboard hydroplanes, a sport in which he achieved the Canadian High Point Award for several years. He was a 4th degree member of Knights of Columbus Council 1219, and a past member of St Michaels Parish Council. He was an active member of his church, serving as an usher until his health prevented him from continuing. Jean is survived by his wife of 66 years, Bertha (Richard); five daughters, Murielle Phee (late Lester Phee) of Regina, Saskatchewan. Ginette Garrish (Barry)of Napan, Diane Lobban (Andy) of Chatham, Carole Paulin of Bowell, Alberta and Anne Wentzell (Paul) of Fredericton; one son Ron Paulin (Becky) of Napan. 12 grandchildren, Jacqueline Craig, Dr. Brian Phee, John Garrish, Bob Garrish, Brent Garrish, Michael Lobban, Steven Paulin, Joey Paulin, Steven Langille, Nicole MacIntosh, Mark Wentzell and Alex Wentzell as well as 11 well loved great-grandchildren, Tanner, Ty, Trace, AJ, Josh, Emma, Payton, Deacon, Cade, Abby, and Rosie. He is survived by two sisters, Evangeline Blanchard and Anne Marie Riley. Besides his parents he was predeceased by two brothers Athanase and Romain and five sisters Jeanne dArc, Henriette, Odette, Colombe and Melanie.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday August 7, 11 am, at St Michaels Basilica with burial to follow in St Michaels Cemetery.
A special thank you goes out to Dad’s caregivers whose caring and dedication allowed him to spend his last years in the comfort of his home. Your compassion will never be forgotten.
