Victoria Conlin 2019

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Victoria (Girouard) Conlin on Sunday, July 21st, 2019 at Hillside Manor in Stratford, Ontario after a lengthy illness.
Vicky was born in 1936 in Tracadie, New Brunswick and is the daughter of the late Alice (Savoie) and Antoine (Anthony) Girouard.
Besides her parents Vicky was predeceased by her brothers Edward and Stafford (Octave), as well as her sister Theresa of Sudbury, Ont.
She is survived by her sisters Medora LeBlanc of Miramichi, NB and Evelyn Girouard of Thunder Bay, Ont. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Elizabeth and Doreen of Vancouver, BC, Patricia, Diane and Doris of Sudbury, Ont., Elsie of Miramichi, NB., Larry and Roger of Vancouver, BC, Raymond of Edmonton, Frankie of Hamilton Ont., and John Paul of Barrie, Ont.
Although she never did have any children of her own her nieces and nephews meant the world to her. Vicky made sure she kept in touch with each of them as best she could, through lengthy letters and phone calls.
Vicky attended St. Michael’s Academy in Chatham, NB and attended middle school at St. Mary’s Academy in Newcastle NB
Vicky’s parents separated when she was very young and as a result spent her childhood in foster homes, one of which was the late Matt and Katie Ryan of Chatham Head, New Brunswick, whom she spoke very highly of. Matt and Katie’s family welcomed her in their home and was treated as one of their own.
At the age of 18 Vicky left New Brunswick on her own, to look for work in Toronto, Ontario. Before retiring she worked for CP Rail as a Keypunch Operator for many years.
After retiring, she settled in Stratford, Ontario where she made lifelong friends who eventually, unselfishly took on the role of her care givers, prior to being admitted to hospital.
Vicky loved to travel the world and took numerous trips and boat cruises. Among the places she visited were Spain, Portugal, West Indies, Bahamas and the Caribbean, to name just a few. Her favorite was sailing on the Windjammer. Vicky was an avid reader and it would be rare to see her without a book, magazine or newspaper.
At her request, there will be no visitation or funeral. Her ashes will be returned to her niece in New Brunswick for burial at a later date.
Donations made on her behalf may be made to a charity of your choice.
Condolences may be sent to the family at: 583 Nelson St., Miramichi, NB
