John Anthony Sikora
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of John Anthony Sikora at the age of 81 years on August 28, 2019.
John was born in Coleman, Alberta on January 19, 1938. Following high school he went on to earn degrees in Science and Education from the University of Saskatoon. John worked as a devoted teacher at Archbishop O’ Leary High school for 30 years. He enjoyed coaching hockey, curling and baseball and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. John was actively involved with the Knights of Columbus and his parish.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Elsie (Mychalyk); three sons, Gregory (Nathalie and grandchildren Sydney and Genevieve), Michael (Lolita and grandchildren Gabriel, Isabelle and Olivia), James (Lindsay and grandchildren Taylor and Chelsea); one brother, Frank (Rosemarie); three sisters, Teresa (Ed), Agnes (Adrian) and Martha (Bill); and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents ,Joseph and Mary (Lipowski); sister, Mary; brothers, Michael, Joe, Tony and Paul; and step-mother Helen (Osiowy). The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all who have reached out to them during this difficult time and the compassionate staff at the Sturgeon Community Hospital.
Prayer Service Tuesday, September 3 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Matthew Roman Catholic Church, 13131 – 86 Street, Edmonton.
Funeral Mass Wednesday, September 4 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Matthew Roman Catholic Church with interment in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
