Shirley Zavitz

Obituary of Shirley Zavitz
Zavitz, Shirley Madge (née McCorquodale) died on August 22, 2019, in her 90th year. Shirley was dearly loved by husband James Robertson Zavitz (1922-2017) and will be missed by her beloved sister, Joyce McCorquodale, children Carol, Sharon Bregman (Rob), Chuck, Robert Ward and Terry Robb, grandchildren Jae Ward (Susan), Amber Robb and Natty Zavitz (Stephanie Hooker), great grandchildren Emma and Holly Venter and Eve Ward. Predeceased by sister Frances McCorquodale and grandson Jacob Zavitz. Daughter of Florence and Arthur McCorquodale. Shirley was a kind, strong, shy woman who consistently put the needs of her loved ones above her own and raised her children while pursuing a career in banking. She was an avid reader, a collector of books and beautiful ceramics. Always up on the latest styles and current events, we will miss her witty and trenchant commentary. The family is thankful for the compassionate care Shirley had at Strathroy Middle General Hospital, particularly from the excellent nursing staff.
A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, August 29th from 12:00 to 2:00 pm at DENNING’S OF STRATHROY, 32 Metcalfe St West, Strathroy. Online condolences and donations can be made at www.strathroyfuneralhome.com
