Florence Gertrude “Gertie” Sargent
1941-2019
Gertie Sargent, 78, of Germantown, passed away on August
13th, 2019 at her home.
Gertie was born on July 21st, 1941, the daughter of the
late Garnet Sheffar and Orpah (Stuart) Sheffar-
Ledger.
Gertie worked with General Motors for 16 years in Oshawa,
Ontario and then returned to Albert County to raise her
family. Her main priority was her girls and her grandson,
they were her world. She never missed watching Cole play
hockey and was always there for him. Gertie was
known for her quick wit and great sense of humour. She loved
the camp and has made many memories over the years and had lots of
laughs and adventures with her family and friends. She
enjoyed bingo and was an avid Toronto Maple Leafs fan.
She was definitely one of a kind and her legacy of love and
laughter will live on forever. Gertie felt blessed to have
her girls there for her whenever she needed anything, the support and
care they gave her while she was struggling with her health issues was
outstanding. She always had drives to her many appointments
and was included in all the daily outings. Gertie would want
everyone to think of a funny story and have a good laugh as you
remember all the fun times you shared. We are sure she is having a
great reunion with her loved ones that have gone before her and she is
smiling down on us now. “Until we meet
again”
She will be deeply missed by her treasured daughters Sherry
Wright (Brian Beck) of Germantown and Denise Priest (Todd Milburn) of
Germantown; her cherished grandson, Cole Wright; brother, Carvel
Sheffar (Joan) of Germantown; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Shaffer of
Shenstone, Imelda Shaffer of Riverview, Bernice
Walburne (Gerald), Jean Donahue (Patrick), Elsie Warwick (George) and
Janette Adams (Dennis) all of Newfoundland. She will also be
missed by her nieces and nephews and by many
friends.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her step-father,
Arthur Ledger; her husband, Pat Sargent; son-in-law, Douglas
Wright; brothers, Ronnie, George, Reggie, Alphonse, Wallace,
Fletcher and Floyd; sister, Irene; brother-in-law, Frank Sargent;
sister-in-law, Stella Heart.
She will be resting at the Albert County Funeral Home with
