Obituary for
Wendy Elizabeth Siebrasse (Davies)
Siebrasse, Wendy Elizabeth
April 26, 1944 – July 20, 2019
It is with great sadness that the family of Wendy Siebrasse announces her death on July 20, 2019. She will be forever missed by her husband Kent, daughter Gillian (David), son Timothy and grandchildren Robert, Emily and Sophie.
Wendy was born in Montreal to the late James and Barbara Davies. It was her older sister, the late Deborah Davies Tuck, who named her new baby sister Wendy, after the character in Peter Pan. Growing up in Montreal, Wendy attended Trafalgar School for Girls, making many life-long friends there. She then went on to study Classics at McGill University, earning her Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree in 1964.
Armed with her classics degree, Wendy started working as an IT Specialist for Bell Canada. She was a quiet pioneer at the time, not only as one of the few women in IT in the office, but also in her work with nascent computer technology. Life was not all serious in 1960s Montreal, however, and she enjoyed ski-weekends with her friends in the Eastern Townships, martini lunches, and especially Expo ’67.
When she married Kent in 1970, they moved to Hudson, Quebec, to start their family. Wendy left work to stay at home with Gillian and Timothy when they were little, giving them an idyllic childhood. After ten years, she began to miss her job and the excitement of working in Montreal so she went back to her job at Bell. In 1982, Kent’s job took the family to Ottawa, which quickly became home. Wendy became the ultimate 1980s super-woman, continuing with her rising career at Bell but always being a loving and devoted mother.
Wendy met life’s many challenges with optimism, strength and grace. She was a loyal and dedicated friend, who maintained close ties with her childhood friends as well as with the wonderful friends she met throughout her life. Her friends were a huge support to her throughout her illness.
The family would like to thank the caring and compassionate staff at the Lord Lansdowne for making her last few months comfortable. Friends may visit the family at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and McGarry, 315 McLeod Street (at O’Connor Street), Ottawa, on Tuesday, July 30th from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A funeral service will follow on Tuesday at Christ Church Cathedral, 414 Sparks Street, Ottawa, at 2:00 p.m.
For those wishing, donations to LiveWorkPlay would be appreciated.
