Victor Starchuk of Roblin, MB passed away on Thursday, March 21 at the age of 77 years.
Victor John Starchuk was born on July 27, 1941 to George and Mary (nee Darry) Starchuk. Victor grew up in the Nova Zorra district and lived there all his life.
Victor liked winter so as soon as the ground would freeze, he would take his bush shack to Wine Lake where he would cut wood for himself and anyone who wanted it. He was always ready to help people no matter what. A phone call and he was gone! When he became councillor for Park North and later Shell River, he was in his glory helping people. When he lost his voice through cancer surgery, it did not slow him down. His ward needed him.
His 4020 three-point-hitch John Deere was the tractor he used to check fence, check cows, cut hay, and even visiting Uncle John. It had a cab and air conditioning so, on hot days or stormy days, he’d go for a drive.
Victor enjoyed his friends and their friendships. He as always ready to have a cup oif coffee. One guy said, “Great conversation and a pot of coffee!” That was Victor! He always had ready a smile, a handshake, and coffee.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his friend, Elsa; his aunt, Rose Balabon or Toronto; aunt Nellie Nickelson of Roblin; brother, Eugene Starchuk and wife Phylis; sis, Pat Starchuk; one nice, Cindy and nephews Conrad, Trent and Rob; and many cousins. Victor was predeceased by his parents, George and Mary Starchuk; brother, Ted; sister, Sylvia; aunts Kay Hawrychuk, Ann Krill; uncles Mike Darry, John Darry, Jack Star, and Ted Balabon; and cousin David Darry.
A service will be held for Victor on Monday, July 8 at 2:00 pm from Sneath-Strilchuk’s Roblin Chapel with interment to follow in the Nova Zora Cemetery.
If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made in Victor’s memory to the Roblin Community Foundation – Cemetery Fund.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Victor Starchuk 1941 2019 (age 77)..
