1942-2019
Vera (nee Jensen) McLaughlin, widow of Jimmy Laursen, wife of
Roy McLaughlin, daughter of the late Carroll and Dorrice Jensen,
passed away peacefully on July 7, 2019, at the age of
76.
Besides her husband Roy, she is survived by her children,
Cyndy (Billy), Keith (Sheila), Sheila (Rob), Kent (Cindy) and six
treasured grandchildren, Kaine, Kirsten, Kevin, Alexandra, Evan and
Nigel, brother John, sisters Gene, Doreen, Betty, brother-in-law, Bob,
sisters-in-law Laila Laursen and Linda Jensen. She is also
survived by Roy’s children, Kevin, Darren, Paula and their
families. She was predeceased by sisters, Marion and Elna
and brother Stan.
She was loved and will be sadly missed by many, many nieces
and nephews.
Vera was born in Foley Brook in 1942. She made her
home in Ontario before retiring in New Denmark.
She was a long-time employee of Scotiabank and enjoyed many
hobbies and activities. She was a member of the Board of the
New Denmark Museum and spent many hours making quilts with the ladies
at Bethany Lutheran Church. She loved spending time with
family and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 11,
2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church in New Denmark with
Pastor Ralph Weigold officiating. Visitation at the church
will be on Thursday from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Interment will
follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.
For those who wish, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society
would be appreciated by the family.
