Vaughan MacKenzie of Charlo passed away peacefully on July 23, 2019 after a lengthy illness at the Campbellton Regional Hospital at the age of 83. Born in Charlo, he was the son of the late Harold and Helen (Hamilton) MacKenzie.
Vaughan is survived by his wife Jocelyn (MacLeod); children Donna Joncas (Mark) of Newmarket,ON., Robert (Diane) of Vaughan, NS., John (Lise) of Bedford, NS.; as well as his his 6 grandchildren Meghan, Alanna, Brandon, Matthew, Erica and Alex. He was predeceased by his brother Ronald, infant sister Barbara and infant brother Wilson.
Vaughan loved spending time on his property, participating in his outdoor activities including riding his ATV and snowmobile. He also loved hitting a few balls at the Restigouche Golf and Country Club. He loved the Village of Charlo where he served on Municipal Council for a number of years.
He was a long time employee of the NBIP Mill in Dalhousie.
He was the only remaining Charter Member of the Dalhousie Lions Club where he received the Melvin Jones Award and was honoured to have the Lions Hall named after him.
His funeral will be held at St. John’s United Church, Dalhousie Tuesday, July 30 at 2 PM with visitation at St. John’s United Church Monday evening from 6-9. In lieu of flowers, donations to St John’s United Church or Dalhousie Riverview Cemetery Extension would be appreciated by the family. Funeral arrangements are in the care of MacMillan’s Funeral Home, Black Point.
