Sheila died on July 15 in Guelph at age 88 after a full life dedicated to helping others as a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a professional and a volunteer.
She was the daughter of Rev. Dr. Malcolm Omond and Olga Harvey Omond of North Bay.
Sheila was the wife of Ron McKitrick for 60 years and mother of Kristy (Steve), Dr. Ross, Dr. Doug, Robert, and David (Freshteh). Her family includes 9 grandchildren: Caitlyn, Kyle, Matthew, Sarah (Fabian), Rebecca, Madeleine, Graham, Emma and Tom and great grandchild Kaida.
She graduated from Queen’s and the University of Toronto as a social worker.
After a successful career in social work, Sheila embarked on her main ambition in life: To be a wife and mother, and she was outstanding in both roles.
Sheila was a kind and generous person, and radiated a warm personality that drew people to her.
She is greatly missed.
A memorial service for Sheila will be held at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St, Guelph, on Sunday, July 21, 2019 at 2 p.m. with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Donation cards are available at the funeral home (519-821-5077), or online at www.gilbertmacintyreandson.com.
