November 17, 1930 – July 25, 2019
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our sister Phyllis on July 25, 2019 at the P.V. Manor in Armstrong.
Phyllis is survived by her brother Ken of Armstrong, Frank of Sundre, AB, David of Prince George, BC and her sister Patricia of Calgary, AB, plus several nieces and nephews. Phyllis is predeceased by her parents Art and Ada Henley as well as her brothers Angus and Peter and her sister Helen.
Phyllis was born in Armstrong and had her schooling there. She moved to Burns Lake, BC where she worked for several years before moving to New Westminster in 1959 and worked for Woodlands School for twenty-eight years. In 1988 she received the Meritorious Service Award from the Ministry of Social Services and Housing from the BC Government in Victoria. After retiring she moved to Sooke, BC to be near her sister Helen and brother-in-law Doug Sylvester. In 2005 she moved back to Armstrong. Phyllis’s pastimes included swimming, watching hockey, football and curling. Scrabble was a passion of her and Helen, the two of them playing a game almost daily till Helen’s passing. She enjoyed travelling, after to visit with Patsy and her two nephews who she enjoyed spoiling. She was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion.
Phyllis will always be remembered for her sweet smile. She had an easy going personality and made many friends along her life’s journey. She will be sadly missed by all whose lives she touched.
A Celebration of Life will take place at the Odd Fellows Hall in Armstrong on Saturday, August 3 from 2-4p.m.
The family would like to thank the staff at the P.V. Manor for their care and concern. We would also like to thank Rosemary Falkins for everything she did for our sister, going above and beyond. We invite everyone who loved and knew her to attend. If you have a special story or memory of Phyllis, you are most welcome to share it with us.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favourite charity.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Phyllis Mary Henley July 25th 2019..
