Obituary for
Peter Sr. Tom
TOM, Peter Sr.
1935-2019
It is with extreme sadness that our family shares news of the passing of the Tom Family patriarch Peter Hoy Tom Sr. on Thursday, July 11th, 2019.
Born in Hoyson, Canton, Peter enjoyed sharing childhood memories of his life in China and his journey to Canada and Timmins with his father. Family was always a priority for Peter and he will forever be cherished by his wife Kim, and their children, Patrick, Mai Jan and Johnny, and children Ron (Shirley), Peter Jr. (Jocelyn), Charlotte McDonald (Mark), Michael (Solange), Donna, and Darlene Gaudet (Remy).
Peter always enjoyed time with his grandchildren Jason, Colton and Quinton Tom, Jennifer Robinson (Rick) and Russell Tom (Emilly), Julia Deveau (Kevin) and Taylor McDonald (Alexandria), and Hailey and Carter Brannan along with his 8 great-grandchildren Jessica, Kailey, Dylan, Riley, Casey, Raiden, Branden and Avery.
Fondly remembered by sisters Linda Wong and Ma Sui Lan, brothers-in-law Ming Mak, Ting Mak and Don Davidson (Darlene), and several nieces and nephews.
Peter was an avid outdoorsman with favourite fishing holes at Nighthawk Lake, Groundhog Lake and Sandy Falls. Throughout his lifetime he was a restauranteur, chef, miner, salesman, electrician, teacher and cab driver. He had a deep passion for learning, returning to school at the age of 40 and always reminded his children of the value of an education.
After 84 years, it is time for Peter to reunite with his parents Dong Hoy and Yee Duck Fong, in-laws Fong Choy and Bing Fu Mac, and Anne Davidson and Leo Seguin, first wife Sylvia (Davidson), brother Benny, brother-in-law Howard Davidson (Janet) and daughter-in-law Glenda Kenehan.
The Tom Family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Emergency Department, Stroke Unit and Hospice Unit Nurses at Timmins and District Hospital along with the Community Care Access Centre and Bayshore Home Health Team.
There will be no public visitation with the family holding a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to an Education Fund in the name of Peter’s youngest son, Johnny Tom (details through funeral home).
Because of your wisdom, we will always put a sweater on, check the stove and drive carefully.
Always in our hearts and surely in our tackle boxes.
Order Flowers
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Peter Sr
