Paul Charles Minard Sunday July 14th 2019

“Don’t think of it as dying”, said Death. “ Just think of it as leaving early to avoid the rush” -Terry Pratchett
Passed away suddenly at his home on July 14, in his 63rd year. Brother of Sheila Minard (Al Sherry 1986) of London, On and David (Mary Ann) Minard of Grimsby, On. Paul will be fondly remembered by many extended family members and friends. Predeceased by his parents Margaret Minard (2010) and Howard Minard (2011).
Paul was an exceptionally gifted piano player and musician/writer. In addition to piano, he played the tuba, recorders and harmonica, and composed many songs. Paul was lucky enough to spend his life making his living working at something he loved…playing the piano and entertaining audiences. He was offered his first professional “gig” at 7 years of age. At age 12, he played his first paying “gig”. During his high school years he played regularly at Pizza Chief. At age 17, he scored a new and original soundtrack to the play “Mother Courage”, performed by the North Park Collegiate Drama Club. At 18, he won the Fanshawe College Music Industry Arts award, with his original composition, Brass Ducks and Doorknobs. In 1989, he performed his composition “Home of the Dome” at the Toronto Argos Home Opener game, in front of 60,000 people, the very first one in the new Skydome. He was accompanied by members of The Boss Brass and Peter Appleyard. Paul has recorded with several top Canadian musicians, including Moe Koffman, Tiki Mercury Clark, Peter Appleyard and others. Paul was fortunate to cruise the world during the 10 years he spent playing on cruise ships. He has played all over Canada from coast to coast. He has spent the last several years voluntarily sharing his talents at the John Noble Home and Hankinson house. Paul was always a champion for the under dog, and always tried to help others. When he was forced to start using a wheelchair, he made it his mission to try and improve the lives of all physically challenged people in his community. He advocated for better ramps, smoother sidewalks, and easier access to buildings. Paul was a kind soul, loving and trusting, always seeing the good in others. He enriched the lives of all those who knew him.
“No one is finally dead until the ripples they cause in the world die away” Terry Pratchett
