Olive Allison
1924-2019
After a wonderfully memorable life, the family of Mrs. Olive
(Oddie) Luella (Hennigar) Allison announce her passing on July 18,
2019 at the Sus Health Centre. Born on January 10, 1924, she was
the daughter of the late Percy and Lillian (Densmore) Hennigar and the
loving wife of Cleland (Barney) Willis Allison, who predeceased her in
2005.
Olive will be greatly missed and forever in the
hearts of her children: Kerry and Carole Allison of Sus, NB.,
Cheryl and Peter Johnson of Calgary, AB., Vicki and Graham Hawkins of
Brookside, NS., Dianne and Tom Gamblin of Codys, NB., Joanne and Brian
Spencer of Fredericton, NB., Janice and Bill Young of Bracebridge, ON
and Dale and Christine Allison of Whitehorse, YK; sisters: Mildred
Densmore of Truro, NS and Lois and Gordon Burns of Toronto, ON;
sister-in-law Adeline Hennigar of Hants County, NS and her 13 precious
grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Along with her parents and husband, Olive was
predeceased by her sisters: Sylvia and Vernon Hennigar, Kathryn and
Talmadge Demmings and Carole and Ellis Buchanan; brothers: Norman
Hennigar , Hazen and Shirley Hennigar and Gordon Hennigar as a child;
brother-in-law Elmer Densmore and her great granddaughter Kerri
Allison.
Oddie was a spirited, live wire of a woman –
always young at heart. With no time for fuss, she never missed a beat
with her quick wit and good sense of humour. It seemed
“impossible” was not in her dictionary of life, and nor was
“idle” especially when it came to creative endeavours,
baking (the best biscuits), travel, adventure, fashion sense, puzzles
or time with some of her favourite people. Always one to jump in and
never afraid to get dirty, her love of nature was evident in her time
well
passed tending to her gardens, taking pride in
weeding them to perfection. Flowers brought her great joy. She was a
good and honest friend; and those around her marvelled at her courage
and perseverance, a gift she passed on to all her
family.
The family of Olive would like to express sincere
appreciation for all the compassion and care she received from Dr.
O’Neill, Dr. Frankish and the nursing staff of the Sus
Health Centre. And a special thank you to Dr. Stackhouse and her staff
for their excellent care over the years.
A Celebration of Olive’s life will be
held at the Oromocto Funeral Home on Friday, July 26th, 2019 at 1 pm
followed by light refreshment and reminiscing. Interment (family only)
will take place in the Lower Lincoln Cemetery at the conclusion of the
gathering.
For those who wish, donations in
Olive’s memory can be made to the Alzheimer Society or the
Heart and Stoke Foundation.
