Obituary for
Octavia “Arlene” Lastiwka
It is with sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Arlene Lastiwka announces her passing on July 9, 2019 at the age of 84 years. Arlene was born on a farm in a district known as Shepenitz, (registered in Hairy Hill, Alberta) and passed away in Edmonton, Alberta.
Arlene is survived by her brother, David (Ann) Ruptash; and sister-in-law, Fran. She was predeceased by her husband, James Lastiwka; brother, Orest Ruptash; and her parents, Violet and Steve Ruptash. Auntie Arlene will be greatly missed by numerous nephews and nieces, several great-nephews and nieces and multiple great-great-nephews and nieces as well as other family members and friends.
The family wishes to acknowledge and thank all the Doctors, Nursing staff and support staff of the Grey Nuns Community Hospital Palliative Care Unit. The care and comfort provided is greatly appreciated.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday July 19 at 3:30 p.m. at Park Memorial Chapel, 9709 – 111 Avenue, Edmonton. In lieu of other tributes, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
