Our superhero Nathan Eugene Gibbons passed peacefully away in the loving arms of Mama and Daddy July 15th, 2019 after a courageous battle with brain cancer. He touched the lives of everyone he met and would make you laugh with his jokes and sense of humour. He was a selfless, caring, compassionate little boy who loved everyone. Left with loving memories his Mama and Daddy, Leanne and Eugene; Poppy Doug and Nanny Helen Byrne, Nanny Sandra and Poppy Buck, Nana Eileen and Poppy G; Unc (Glenn) and Aunt Karen, Aunt Deanna and Uncle Allan, Aunt Issy, Uncle Greg and Jacob, Uncle Jon and Aunt Tiff; special Cousins Julie, Lillian and Emily, Holly and Mason; Best Furry Friends Lucy and Trixie; Best Buds Cole, Toren, Noah, Nate, Sarah and all of his classmates and staff at St. Peter’s Primary; teacher Madame Pennell; and the extended family members of the Byrne, Gibbons, O’Reilly, and Knee families. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Janeway Children’s Hospital: Dr. Lynette Bowes, Dr. Moorehead, Dr. Goodyear, Dr. Maroun, Dr. Peter Noel, Oncology Nurse Gale Roberts, the Nursing Team at Medical Daycare, Physiotherapist Shawna Sparkes, Dr. Barter, Dr. Conradi and all PICU staff, and the IWK Children’s Hospital neurosurgery team for their compassionate and supportive care of Nathan. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 1045 Topsail Road, Mount Pearl, on Wednesday, July 17th from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. and Thursday, July 18th from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held from St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 110 Ashford Drive, Mount Pearl, on Friday, July 19th at 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Nathan’s memory may be made to Neveah’s Lemonade Stand, or the Candlelighters of Newfoundland and Labrador.
