1926 ~ Matilda “Tillie: Meier ~ 2019
Mrs. Matilda “Tillie” Meier of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of Norman, passed away on Saturday, July 6th, 2019 at the age of 92 years. TIllie leaves to cherish her memory her six children; Diana of Medicine Hat, Darlene (Leonard) of Nanaimo, BC, Douglas (Natalie) of Brampton, ON; Daniel (Marleen) and David of Saskatoon, SK; Delbert (April) of Medicine Hat; fourteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; sister, Bertha (William) of Medicine Hat; and numerous nephews and nieces. Tillie was predeceased by her husband Norman, in 1994; 3 sisters; 4 brothers; son-in law, Paul Metz in 2009; and one grandson in infancy.
Tillie was born on November 27, 1926 at Kuest, SK, in the Richmound area. She moved to Medicine Hat, AB to work at Domglas. She met Norman and they were married on September 25, 1948 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Medicine Hat, AB. Together they raised their family while actively working at building their Watkins distributorship in the Medicine area. Tillie worked alongside Norman until his passing and then continued on until her retirement. Tillie was a lifelong member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. She loved and cared for everyone and will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL on Monday, July 16th, 2019 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 758 – 8th Street SE, on Tuesday at, July 16th, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. with Reverend Shane Hein and (Tentative: and Lance Duncalfe) officiating.
Interment will follow in the family plot at Hillside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tillie’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, Alberta/NWT Division, Suite 200, 325 Manning Road NE, Calgary, Alberta T2E 2P5.
