Mary was born in Steinbach on August 26, 1922, as the oldest daughter of Cornelius T. and Helena Loewen.
At an early age it was her desire to serve the Lord as a missionary, and she studied at Bible Schools in Steinbach, Omaha, and Los Angeles to prepare herself. She served under the Go Ye Mission in the Ozarks of Oklahoma for many years before returning to Steinbach, where she taught at Steinbach Bible Institute and met her husband Ben Hoeppner. They went to Paraguay where Ben taught in a Bible School, then moved to Winnipeg where he pastored a Low German language church before retiring.
Mary’s family is grateful for the excellent nursing care she received at Donwood Manor, where she spent the later years of her life.
