Marilyn Kay Welton
1945-2019
After a brief illness,
Marilyn Kay Welton, 73, of Advocate, NS,
passed away at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on
Monday July 1, 2019.
Marilyn moved to Canada from New Zealand
in 1967, having lived in Hamilton, ON, before settling in Nova
Scotia.
Marilyn enjoyed spending time on the
beach in the sunshine with a good glass of wine. She loved
to laugh and enjoyed a good time. She returned to school at
the age of fifty-two, to become an LPN and worked with the QEII
Satellite Dialysis Clinic in Springhill. Most recently she
has enjoyed and been involved in the crafting community, including
having been a rug hooker, a knitter and a moccasin maker, and made
many good friends.
She will be sadly missed by, her spouse
of over twenty years, Brent Macaloney, Advocate; three children,
Jean-Marie (Matthew) Cormier, Fenwick, Steven (Diana) Walker, Amherst,
and Alicia Welton, Manning, AB; seven grandchildren and two great
grandchildren; a sister Janice (Ian) Rodgers, New Zealand, with whom
she shared a special bond, as well as many nieces, nephews, and close
friends.
Besides her parents, Marilyn was
predeceased by a granddaughter, Molly, and a brother
Ian.
Arrangements are under the care and
guidance of the Jones Family Funeral
Centre, 70 Church Street, Amherst (902-667-8777) from
where an afternoon of visitation and remembrance will be held from 2-4
pm on Friday, July 5, 2019. All are welcome to
attend.
Donations in memory of Marilyn may be
made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
