Louis’ Obituary
Whillans, Louis Raymond long time resident of Manning, passed away on June 27th, 2019 at the Manning Hospital at the age of 88 years.
Louis was born on January 21, 1931 in High River, Alberta to parents William and Alice Whillans.
Lou moved to the Manning area in the early 50’s from Pine Lake, Alberta. He cleared land and help with the family sawmill. Lou married Annie Hanna and they farmed northeast of Manning for over 60 years. He worked in construction for a number of years as a mechanic and welder.
He spent hours flooding the community skating rink that was on their yeard site, and put thousands of miles on driving kids to hockey or ball games.
Lou was very proud to celebrate their 67th wedding anniversary. He will be remembered for his big heart and his crazy sense of humor.
He was predeceased by his parents William and Alice Whillans; brothers George Whillans, Jim Whillans; and daughter Diane Rever.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Annie Whillans ‘Nee’ Hanna; Son Edward (Erica) Whillans; daughter Deborah Foster Lay; son Kevin (Sharlene) Whillans; brothers Ken Willans, Bill Whillans; Sister Joyce McDermott; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A Funeral service will be held on Thursday July 4th, 2019 at the Battle River AG Hall in manning at 2:00 PM with pastor Cory Rosenfelt Officiating.
If friends so desire, donations may be made to Manning Minor Ball as expressions of sympathy.
