Julie Marilyn Chalmers (Smith)
Chalmers (Smith), Julie Marilyn – Of Truro. It is with profound sadness we announce that on Friday July 26, 2019, Julie passed away at home. Born September 27, 1945 in Barrow-in-Furness, England she was the daughter of the late Henry and Doris Smith. Julie was predeceased by her husband Dr. Ron Chalmers. Julie attended schools both in England and Canada and was a graduate of Queen Elizabeth High School in Halifax. Julie administered her husband’s medical practice at the Hilden Clinic for over 27 years. Julie was a long-time member and past president the Truro Golf Club. Julie was a proud supporter of 100 Women Who Care (Truro). She was also a past member of Ski Wentworth. Over the past several years Julie became a passionate hockey fan while watching her grandsons play Bantam, Midget and Jr. A Hockey. Julie is survived by her daughter Cathy (Chuck) Williams, Tantallon; son Scott (Pavita), Fort Myers, Fla., and her cherished grandsons Matt and Ben Williams. Julie is also survived by her brother John Smith, Toronto, and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. A Celebration of Life will be held from 3-5 pm Tuesday July 30 at the Truro Golf Club, 86 Golf St., Truro. Donations in memory can be made Colchester East Hants VON, the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice. The family would like to extend particular thanks to the Palliative Care team who so ably and graciously assisted Julie these past weeks.
