Obituary for
Joseph Ted “Joe” Fridel
Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and uncle passed away Sunday, June 30, 2019 at the age of 90 years after battling pneumonia for over a month.
Joe will always be remembered by his loving wife, Kathleen; his two sons, Greg of Edmonton and Tom (Allyson) of Schererville, IN; grandchildren, Sawyer of Schererville, IN and Sarah (Justin) of Franklin, OH; great-grandchildren, Shelby and Brady; nephew, Paul Kirk (Debbie); and nieces, Janine (Joe) Puszkar and Joan Kirk. Predeceased by his sisters, Bernice Tworek, Rose Kirk, and Stephina Fridel; nephews, Ed Tworek, Walter Tworek, and Dick Kirk.
Joe liked sports and received a commendation from Mayor Terry Kavanaugh for his involvement with minor hockey. He was also a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus.
The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to Dr. Judy Pengh for her kindness and professionalism, and the nursing staff of Unit 53, Room 5307, 5th floor of the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Edmonton.
Funeral Mass Wednesday, July 3 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 11485 – 106 Street, Edmonton. If one wishes, donation may be made to the Church’s Building Fund or a charity of one’s choice.
