JOSEPH “JOE” ALEXANDER DROTOS
(1929 – 2019)
Peacefully at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital with his family by his side on July 24, 2019, Joseph “Joe” Alexander Drotos passed away in his 91st year. He was born June 1, 1929 in Guelph, 34 days after his family immigrated to Canada from Hungary. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Marg (Husty), daughter Sandra Carson (Owen), grandchildren Cara (Drew) and Cole. Joe is also survived by his sister Helen Fulop, brother Steve Drotos (Liz), sister-in-law Gerry Fulop, cousin Helen Orel and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his mother and father Elizabeth and John Drotos, mother and father-in-law Anna and Charles Husty, son Joey (1976), brother John (wife Betty), brothers-in-law Joe and Louie Fulop, Charlie Husty, and sister-in-law Gerry Husty, niece Lynne Rowe, nephew Steve Drotos and cousin Steve Orel. After farming tobacco for 10 years Joe became Foreman at Livingston Industries in Tillsonburg for 25 years. He was an avid vegetable gardener on his son-in-law and daughter’s farm and then at their home. He also had a passion for bowling, darts, horseshoes and golf in which he won many trophies. In keeping with Joe’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg (519-842-5221) on Saturday, August 3, 2019 from 1:00 – 4:00 pm. Memorial donations to the Diabetes Association or the Arthritis Society would be appreciated by the Drotos family.
