Obituary of John Gillis
Gillis, John A., of St. Thomas passed away July 13th after a short illness. John was raised in New Waterford, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia and moved to Ontario in 1984.
John was a talented musician and loved to entertain with his music and sense of humour. He spend many years working in the GTA, in the security industry. John was very proud of the opportunities he was involved in and the VIP’s he met as a result. John received many commodations in his field.
John was also dedicated to his family. He was predeceased by his parents, John A. and Marion Gillis (nee McEachren) of New Waterford. He is survived by his wife, Cathy, son Alex, daughter Rebecca (Karl Brown) and his only grandchild Logan Brown. John is also survived by his sisters Pauline MacDonald, Sharon (Damien) Boudreau and Mary (Russell) Spencer along with their children and grand children. John will be missed by his in-laws, Ronald and Wendy Archibald and brother in law Philip (Rose) and family.
John’s family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to his family doctor, Anusha Perera along with Dr. Benson Thomas, the STEGH 5th Floor Palliative Care team and the VON Nurses and PSW staff for the kindness and compassionate care he received during his short illness.
