John Charles Charlie MacEachern 19382019

Peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Wednesday, July 10, 2019
of John Charles (Charlie) MacEachern of Cornwall, in his 81st year.
Charlie was born at the MacEachern Homestead in New Argyle, September
16th, 1938, To Bertha May and Duncan Gordon MacEachern. He is survived
by his wife, Sigridur H. (Sigga) MacEachern, brother Arnold
(Meredith, deceased) and his stepson, David J. Arngrimsson
(Kristín) of Iceland, grandchildren; Arnar, Birna and Thorunn as
well as numerous nephews and nieces. He is predeceased by half brother
Stewart, half sister Sadie (John Gillespie) brother Everett (Shirley)
and sister Jean Haslam (John). Charlie left home in his late teens and
travelled to Alberta. He worked on ski patrol at Lake Louise, worked
for a couple of winters for Alberta Department of Highways as a snow
removal operator in Rogers Pass. In 1966 Charlie signed on with
Greyhound Lines of Canada where he was employed for 33 years. Charlie
retired from Greyhound in 2000 and he and Sigga moved to PEI and
settled in Cornwall. Charlie’s remains have been cremated. No
visitation by request. A celebration of Charlie’s life will be held at
Burnside Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, July 15 at 2 p.m. With a
get-together at Clyde River Community Hall after the service. In Lieu
of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke
Foundation.
