John “Boo” Phillip MacAskill 70 of Sydney,
passed away Tuesday July 23, 2019 at the Cape Breton Regional
Hospital.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late John Murdock and
Dorothy Evelyn (Chislett) MacAskill. He was a devoted fan of the
Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Blue Jays. John loved life
celebrating every holiday decorating his car for the occasion. He
loved music and dancing. He played Santa at Christmas for family and
friends. His best companions were Mutley and Storm.
Boo worked in Ontario driving a delivery truck and then moved
back to Sydney and was employed with Ziggy’s Pub in Sydney
River.
He is survived by sisters Ann MacInnes, Jersey Cove, Sheila
Shaw, Liverpool, Elizabeth (Rossy) Dauphney, Little River, brothers
Danny (Freda), Edwardsville, Robert (Judy), Westmount, many nieces and
nephews, cousins, and also a special Aunt Normie Bona,
Sydney.
Boo was predeceased by a brother Stewart
Donald.
Funeral service will take place Thursday August 1, 2019 in
Sydney Memorial Chapel at 1pm with Rev. Peter Rafuse officiating.
Interment will take place at Hardwood Hill Cemetery at a later
date.
Memorials may be made to the Canadian Liver Foundation or
charity of choice.
