Jim passed away peacefully in hospital, Perth on Friday, July 12, 2019 at the age of 73. Beloved husband of Patricia (O’Donohue) Merkley. Loved brother of Earl (Kathy) Merkley, Joan Schreiber, Eleanor (Larry) Ramsey, Edmund (Susan) Merkley, Lois (Glen) MacDonnell, Carolyn (Ron) Jones and Fay Wagner and brother-in-law to Nick (Nancy) O’Donohue, Dwaine (Florence) O’Donohue, Sharon Lipp, the late Carol O’Donohue, Kevin (Mary) O’Donohue, Maureen (Burns) McLean, Bryan (Mary) O’Donohue, Stephen (Shirley) O’Donohue, Leonard O’Donohue, Doris Grant, Marian (Mike) McKay, Leo O’Donohue, Monica O’Donohue, Danny (Jane) O’Donohue and Michael (Joanne) O’Donohue. Jim will be dearly missed by his nieces and nephews, as well as many great friends. Family and friends may pay their respects at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 112 Beckwith St. N., Smiths Falls on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis de Sales Church on Thursday, July 18, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Interment, St. Francis de Sales Cemetery at a later date. In memory of Jim, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Francis de Sales Church Building Maintenance Fund or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
