Jim passed away suddenly at his home on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at the age of 88.
Jim was born in Harwich Township on April 8, 1931 and was the son of the late Gladstone and Irene (nee Scoyne) Smith.
Beloved husband of Ruth Ann (nee Watts) Smith of Chatham.
Loving father of Laurie Young of Blenheim, Barry Smith of Chatham, Britt Smith of Toronto, Cheryl and Scott McKellar of Brantford, Patricia and Dale LeGroulx of Thamesville and Ken and Cheri Smith of Kent Bridge.
Sadly missed by 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Dear brother of Sam (the late Jean) Smith of London, (the late Harry) and Carol Smith of Blenheim, Betty Ann and Jim Martin of McGregor and the late Geraldine and Bob Wyman of Florida.
Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Jim spent most of his life establishing Canaberry Farms in Pardoville. He also worked for the Ontario Fruit Board. Upon retirement he and his wife, Ruth started an upholstering business called Seams Great.
The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham, ON, on Saturday, July 20, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the Celebration of Life to follow, with Rev. Bill Terris, officiating.
Interment will be held at Pardoville Cemetery.
The family requests that donations be made in memory of Jim to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Kidney Foundation of Ontario.
