Obituary for
J. M. Bruce Dudley
Bruce Dudley died in his 89th year after a warrior’s struggle with lung disease. The eldest son of Hector and Mae Dudley (Cottrell), Bruce was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth (Erley). He is survived by his children, Stewart (Clare), Kim, and Susan Julien; brother Garry (Shannon); his close friend and companion, Heather; two lovely granddaughters, Hannah and Emma; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bruce loved life, 42 years of which he spent with the Gowlings law firm. He had a passion for 20th century history and a refined appreciation for jokes, wine and photography, as well as classic movies, cars, motorcycles, aircraft, trains and electric street railways. If he had one regret, it was never getting to rip around the Isle of Man on a 500cc Manx Norton. Thank you to his outstanding palliative care team, especially Drs Howard Cohen and Michelle McKinnon.
Friends are invited to visit at the West Chapel of Hulse Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Ave. (at Richmond Road), Ottawa on Wednesday, July 24 from 6-8p.m. and on Thursday, July 25 from 1-3p.m. Celebration of Life in the Chapel at 3p.m. A reception will follow.
