Irvin Wiseman
1930-2019
Irvin Wiseman, husband of the late Emily
(Scott) Wiseman died peacefully Thursday, July
18th, 2019 surrounded by people who loved him,
after a period of declining
health.
Irvin is survived
by his daughter Isabel (John Clouston) of North Tetagouche,
son Owen (Erin Roberts) of Deep River ON. and Owen’s two sons
Marshall and Zachery. Brother and sisters-in law Francis &
Peggy Scott and Patsy Scott.
Several nieces, nephews and his
long-time fishing partner Donnie
Sealy.
Irvin worked at
Brunswick Mines for 32 years retiring in 1986. He was often
heard to say that he was able to draw a pension of Brunswick for
longer than he worked there. During his working career at Brunswick he
held many positions but being the Mine Rescue Coordinator was the one
of which he was most
proud.
Irvin was a
fisherman. He had his first lobster license at the age of 14
and fished until 2018. The fisherman at the Stonehaven Wharf
were a second family to him. It was with their support that
he was able to fish until he was
88.
His winters were spent in Bathurst,
meeting every morning with a group of special friends for breakfast
and then off to the KC Irving center for a two-mile walk. In
the summers he lived on his farm in New Bandon looking out over the
Bay of Chaleur that he spent so much time on.
Irvin was predeceased by his brothers
Austin and William, sister, Katie and daughter-in-law,
Mary.
Irvin was a member and first Clerk of
Session of Central Untied Church. Past Master of Lodge St.
John No 27,F&AM Bathurst. Past District Deputy Grand Master of
NB. Member of Luxor Temple, Saint John. Past Patron of Bathurst
Chapter # 22, Order of the Eastern Star. Past Grand Representative to
Idaho. OES. Honorary member of Prince Andrew Ch # 42 OES. Honorary
member of Prince Charles Ch # 27 OES. Member of North Shore Shrine
Club. Charter member of Quarter Century Club of Brunswick Mining and
Smelting. Honorary Member of the Mine Rescue
Association.
The family will
receive relatives and friends after 2 p.m. Saturday July
20th at Elhatton’s Funeral Home
(www.elhatton.com), St. George St. Visiting hours
are Saturday from 2-4 & 7-9
p.m.
A celebration of Irvin’s life
will take place at 3 pm Sunday July 21st, 2019
from the First United Church St. Patrick
Street.
The family would
like to thank all the doctors, nurses and paramedics who assisted in
his care over the last few
weeks.
