It is with great sadness, that Helen passed away at the age of 81 at Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria BC, due to various medical complications.
In life, she was a vibrant, fun, loving, beautiful shining star to her second husband and soulmate of nearly 47 years, Joseph F. Hynes and her daughter from her previous marriage Mary L. Turner. She was very much loved and will be forever remembered and forever missed. Helen also leaves behind surviving members of her predeceased sister Emily, the Martin family, sister Carol Hobbs and her family sister Edna Holloway and her family, sisters Eliza Hobbs and Audrey Hobbs and their families. Surviving members of her predeceased brother in law Bill Hobbs, the surviving member of stepsister Elizabeth Downer’s family stepbrother, Jim Hobbs, and his family, and surviving members of their sister Maude and surviving members of her cousin Irene Mayo’s family.
On her husband’s side, she is predeceased by mother and father in law Mary and John Hillard, sister in law Marge and brother in law Alf Hilliard, and sister in law Angela Durrell and surviving members of her family. Survived by sister in law Bern Schabell and her family and brother in law Pierce Hilliard and his family.
Helen was born in Port Blanford NFLD when she was old enough, she was a waitress at the Brown Derby’s Restaurant then cashier at Stewart’s Supermarket in Grand Falls in the mid-fifties. Early in the 60’s she moved to St. Johns with her family and worked at Ayre’s Supermarket and then went to work at the Memorial Arena until 1972 when she met her 2nd husband Joe, and in October 1973 they arrived in Victoria BC. Her life from then on was the happiest ever, but she never felt totally complete until her daughter Mary finally came to Victoria to be with her and hubby Joe and became the happiest mom and wife on the planet.
A loving wife, a loving mother, loving sister, will be sorely missed but always remembered by those who loved her.
No Words
No words can ever express
The loss of one so Dear
But the Mem’ries we all have
Will always keep her Near
Though her Physical Presence is
No Longer
And our Lives will never be
The same
Her spiritual Presence still
Lingers
In our Mem’ries that remain
No words can ever Convey
The emptiness we feel
Our memories will comfort us
‘Til we meet again someday.
