Gordon Fawcett
Gordon Fawcett, of Moncton,
NB, age 87, died peacefully on Sunday, July 14, 2019 in The Moncton
Hospital.
Born and raised in Killams
Mills, NB, he was the son of the late Arthur and Matilda (nee Carson)
Fawcett. Gordon graduated from Petitcodiac High School. He retired
from a lengthy career in the insurance industry, including nearly 30
happy years spent with The Cooperators in Moncton. For more than 60
years Gordon was an active member of Highfield Baptist Church where he
served on many boards and committees. He enjoyed singing in choirs and
quartets, going out to eat with friends, and travel – especially the
nearly 20 winters spent with his wife in Florida during their
retirement years.
He is survived by his wife of
54 years, Judy Fawcett, and their two sons: Dr. Bruce (Penny) Fawcett
of Moncton and Commander (USCG) Paul (Holly) Fawcett of Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania. He also leaves four grandchildren: Daniel, Lilly, Em,
and Grace. He was predeceased by his brother Roy and sister-in-law,
Melba, of Petitcodiac.
Visitation will take place at
Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) from
6:30 – 9:00 pm on Wednesday and a memorial service will be held at
Highfield Baptist Church, 290 St. George St., Moncton on Thursday,
July 18, 2019 at 11:00 am. Reception following the service. Interment
will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Memorial gifts in his memory
to Highfield Baptist Church and Crandall University would be welcomed.
