Geoffrey’s Obituary
APRIL 1, 1936 – July 24, 2019
Peacefully, after a brave battle with cancer, at the Ottawa General Hospital on July 24, 2019 in his 83 rd year. Family was everything to Geoff. He was the beloved husband of Susan (nee Toulson) and much- loved father of Alison (Steven), Jim and Valerie. Cherished granddad to Meaghan (Joe), Brendan and Jamie and also proud great granddad to Levon. Geoff will be greatly missed by his nieces Elisa (Will) and Andrea (Alvin) and was a great uncle to Mark, Lily, Sarah, Xander, Violet and Eden. He will be lovingly remembered by brother -in law, Christopher (Maryka) and by Mary and Tony Millea. He will be missed by Deb, Joshua, Robert, Pierrette (Ross) Taylor.
Geoff was born to Edward and May Kneen in Sowerby Bridge, Yorkshire, England and was the close younger brother of Colin. He came to Canada with his young family in 1962 to continue his career in textiles. In 1984 along with Pierrette Taylor, he established Manx Manufacturing Ltd. which successfully continues to produce aircraft and train carpets.
Geoff lived life to the fullest, pursuing his many interests in classic cars, boats, motorcycles, fishing, woodworking and visiting as often as he could his early childhood memories in the Isle of Skye. He was an independent, well respected, strong and determined man who never shied away from fixing any problem whether it was hands on, in the business or helping out other people.
A celebration of his life will be held at St. James Anglican Church, Carleton Place on July 29, 2019 at 11 am, followed by a reception lunch at his home (296 Wilson St. Appleton, ON K0A 1A0). In lieu of flowers and in recognition of their caring and compassionate support, donations to The Ottawa Hospital would be appreciated.

Death notice for the town of: Carleton-Place, Province: Ontario
I only now (Oct. 2020) learned of Geoff’s passing last year. Geoff was a consummate gentleman, an excellent businessman and a devoted family man. It was always a pleasure to speak with him and to do business with him and his company. My deepest sympathies are belatedly sent to Sue, Pierrette and the family. The world is a better place having had Geoff among us.
