SCHIAVONE, Francesco
Passed peacefully on July 8, 2019 surrounded by family in his 87th year. Beloved wife of 60 years to Angelina. Devoted father of Mary (Mario) D’Orante, Mike (Susan), and Vince (Lucia). Loving grandfather of Angie, Christina, Marco, Francesco, and Cassandra. Great-grandfather to Natalie. Survived by his brother Pasquale (Giuseppina) Melfi. Predeceased by sisters Lucia Schiavone in Italy and Giuseppina (Alessandro) DeSivo. Survived by sisters-in-law Franca (late Sergio) Lauretani, Rosetta (late Palmerino) Fazi and Giuseppina (late Piero) D’Ostilio, and by brother-in-law Franco (Luisa) Corine. Predeceased by parents Michele Schiavone and Angelina Melfi, and in-laws Vincenzo and Ausilia Corine. Survived by many nephews and nieces in Italy and Canada. Francesco was born and raised in Italy, served in the Italian military and emigrated to Canada in 1958 for the love of his life, Angelina. Francesco will be fondly remembered for his love of gardening, wine making, and dedication to his family. His words of wisdom, sense of humour and playful conversation around the table will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him. Family would like to thank the dialysis unit at St. Joseph’s Healthcare and DARTS. Visitation will be held at FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL, 43 Barton Street East on Thursday from 7 – 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 – 4 p.m. and 7 – 9 p.m. and Saturday morning from 8 – 9 a.m. Vigil prayers on Friday at 8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be offered at All Souls Church on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 10 a.m. Entombment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Burlington. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Kidney Foundation would be kindly appreciated.
