Alexander, Florence “Ileen” – 92, Debert passed away peacefully on July 18, 2019 in East Cumberland Lodge, Pugwash. Born in East Village, N.S., she was a daughter of the late Peter and Jessie (Rushton) O’Brien. Ileen was a devoted mother, grandmother, great and great-great grandmother and friend to many. She loved her garden and flowers, baking bread and helping others. She often sewed clothing for her children and was very frugal. She was a dedicated Christian. She loved CBC Radio. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara (Bill) Coombes, Onslow, Sandra Aikens, Truro; sons, Mitchell (Anne), Sus, NB, Timothy (Sheryl), Debert, Stephen (Andrea), Toronto; sisters, Doreen and Norma; six grandchildren; several great grandchildren; great, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Royce; sisters, Doris and Margaret; brothers, Ralph, Chesley, Peter Jr., Arnold, Gerald and Cyril and grandson, Shawn. A time of visitation will be held at 1 p.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 21st, 2019 both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro with Rev. Betty Johnson officiating. Interment in Masstown Cemetery. In lieu of flowers or donations, it is the wish of the family that you do a good deed for someone else.
