Eric Royce
Shearer – 64, Debert,
passed away peacefully, with his loving wife at his side, on Saturday
afternoon, June 29, 2019, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre,
Truro. Born in Truro, he was a son of the late Alexander Sr. and
Florence (Blackmore) Shearer.
In earlier years, Eric worked at Polymer as a Material
Handler, until ill health forced him to retire. Throughout his life,
he faced many adversities with his health but these did not confine or
define him. He and Donna always appreciated the support they received
and were always trying to give back and help others with their
involvement with various fundraising activities and
organizations.
He was an avid outdoorsman who absolutely loved working in
the woods and bass fishing. Eric enjoyed playing baseball and was
involved with many games and tournaments locally and provincially. He
also loved to tease and torment, and up until the day that he died, he
was still getting the better of his wife, nurses, family and friends.
He will be dearly missed by his K-9 companions, Elly Mae and Ruby
Jean, who were never far from his side.
Eric is survived by his loving wife, Donna (Muise), who
celebrated 37 years of marriage on June 19; son, Chad (Samantha Zito),
Truro; sister, Terry Lynn (Kevin) Duguay, Belmont; brothers, Teddy
(Marg), Roach (Leona), Russell (Donna), all of Belmont; sister-in-law,
Odessa Shearer, Halifax; Margaret Shearer, Belmont; several nieces and
nephews. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers,
Curtis, Elmer, George, Alexander Jr., Perry. If so desired, donations
in Eric’s memory to Colchester SPCA or Canadian Cancer
Society are welcomed.
