Barton, Donald M. – 66, of Pugwash, passed away Friday, July 5, 2019, at the North Cumberland Memorial Hospital. Born in Cumberland Bay, N.B., he was a son of Merle McCormick and Frances Thurston but raised by his grandparents, the late Bud and Ethel Barton. Don had been employed with Wetland Construction for over 18 years. Surviving are his wife, Shirley Bennett; children, Lindsay (Tyler), Bradley (Melissa), Samantha (Izea), Jocelyn, Rocky, Jeffrey, Tessa and Damian, all of the Pugwash area; 14 grandchildren; sister, Nelda Kelly (Russell), Fredericton, N.B. Besides his grandparents he was predeceased by a sister, Ethel Thurston. There will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, at Mundle’s Funeral Home, 204 Water St., Pugwash. Pastor Tim Whidden officiating. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
