Daninah Joan Cummins Saturday July 20th 2019

CUMMINS, Daninah Joan (nee Baillie) –
With much sadness, but happiness at a life filled with adventure, we say good-bye to our mother, wife and grandmother. Mom was born on March 20, 1931 in the town of Cargill. She grew up in a family of four children (Pat, Fran and Bill). When she was 18 she left home for Teacher’s College in Stratford. She traveled all over the world from Scotland to Germany and beyond. Mom began a teaching career first in the Northwest Territories, then into Northern Ontario (Fort Frances) and finally settling in Toronto. There she would meet her future husband Oliver. They would marry on December 26, 1964. They would raise 5 children. Mom was an avid rug hooker. Her rugs were on display both at home and at the cottage in Southampton where she was happiest. Joan is survived by her husband Oliver (55 years of marriage). Ninah, Jonathan, Darcy (Tanya), Tracy, and Carla (Darren) will fondly remember the infectious laughter that Mom shared. Her grandchildren Ashtyn, Tobin, Isabella, Meghan, and Madelyn will miss the summers at the cottage, illicit pet giving, snuggles and laughter. Friends will be received at NEWEDIUK FUNERAL HOME, KIPLING CHAPEL, 2058 Kipling Avenue (North of Rexdale Boulevard), Toronto, on Monday, July 29, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Gregory’s Church, 122 Rathburn Road, Toronto, on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at 11 a.m. Online condolences at newediukfuneralhome.com
