Cesidia DeMarinis
February 11, 1933 – July 19, 2019
With heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of our beautiful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Cesidia, on Friday July 19, 2019, in her 87th year. Cherished wife for 62 loving years to Giuseppe (known as Peppi to her). Deeply loved mother of Marylee Carbone, Tony and Mary DeMarinis, and Denise and Aldo Genovese. Proud nonna of Christina (David) Falletta, Melinda (Jason) Dachuk, Isabella, Carissa and Matthew DeMarinis, and Luke and Gabriella Genovese. Adored bisnonna of Gemma, Alyssa, and Adrian Falletta. Cesidia will also be very sadly missed by Mario Carbone, her loving sisters Anna (Angelo) DiBennedetto and Giuliano (Fernando) Palmieri. Predeceased by her parents Giovanni and Emilia Giardini, and her brothers Bruno, Mario, and Antonio Giardini. Thoughtfully remembered by many wonderful nieces, nephews, relatives and friends in Canada, the U.S and Italy.
Born on February 11, 1933 in Pratola Peligna, Italy, young Cesidia spent her days playing in the small-town streets with her brothers and sisters. As a young girl, she would often tell her neighbour Giuseppe “Peppi, don’t worry, I will marry you someday.”… as if she already knew that they would be together and that God would bless them with a beautiful family and a long life by each other’s side. Their lives together would take them from a small, war ravaged Italian village to a new land of opportunity. They would use that good fortune to build a legacy of family and love.
Cesidia’s warm and radiant personality was a guiding light for her many loved ones. She measured herself always by how she touched those around her. Their happiness and contentment was enough for her, and she never asked anything in return for the love and guidance she gave in abundance. Smiles, laughter, music, passion, creativity, consideration, kindness and caring defined her always. She embraced and embodied life, family and goodness.
Words could never express the love, respect, and adoration we feel for our kind and gentle Cesidia, or the heartache left by her passing. The very many memories of our family gathered around the table laughing, talking and savouring every bite of her extraordinary cooking will be with us forever. We are consoled only by the certainty that a beautiful soul like Cesidia can never die. Until we meet again, we say Arrivederci, with love.
