Benjamin Lee Mitchell
October 26, 1950 – June 27, 2019
Aka. Ben, Uncle Ben
In his 69th year, at Kingston General Hospital, Ben succumbed to a sudden illness. He passed comfortably and peacefully.
Beloved son of the deceased Harold and Lauretta Mitchell (nee Hanoksi). Eldest brother of; Dan, Randy and Mary Jane Mitchell. Dear uncle to; Rylee Anne, Ian (Rachel), Sarah and James Mitchell. A good friend to many.
Ben spent his youth in Cobourg, where he called home. He moved to study at the University of Guelph. In his second year of study he experienced the onfall of Schizophrenia. He spent much time in other Ontario cities. He cherished the company of others, and preferred to have access to a variety of libraries and laudable music. Comrades knew him by his genuine greeting or polite and intelligent conversation. He would be found enjoying a coffee or a cigarette while sitting on a park bench and enjoying the day.
The community truly welcomed Ben back home. The family sends their sincerest gratitude to Doctor W. Webster and the Act Team for providing knowledgeable care and support for Ben in Cobourg. Thank you to all who showed him kindness and hospitality during his final years.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Knights of Columbus Community Centre, on Sunday July 21st, from 12:00 noon to 4:00 PM. Lunch to be provided. Condolences received at www.MacCoubrey.com.
“I hope he’s conducting symphonies in heaven with a never-ending cigarette.”- Rylee Anne
