Angeline ‘Angie’ Dorrington
1942-2019
Angeline Emelia
“Angie” (Pitts) Dorrington
September 21, 1942 –
July 25, 2019.
Frankie and Tracy would like to announce the passing of their
mother, Angie, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a
daughter of the late Simon and Mary Angeline Pitts. Angie was
a great many things to everyone in her life; she treasured her family,
extended family and friends. She became the magnet that held the
family together.
She was an avid golfer, gifted athlete and mastered her
figure skating ability and is renowned for starting the first figure
skating club (Silver Blades) in Corner Brook, Nfld. She was a great
asset to her husband, Frank “Danky” Dorrington, who is also
remembered as a gifted hockey player and humanitarian. They were often
referred to as “the Figure Skater and the Hockey Player” in
their adopted home of Corner Brook.
She is survived by her son, Franklin “Frankie”,
Plymouth; daughter, Tracy (Scott) Taylor, New Glasgow; granddaughters,
Michaela and Rebecca Taylor, New Glasgow; sisters: Mable Johnstone,
Trenton; Theresa (Angus) Pellerin, Larry’s River; Linda (Gary) Burns,
Irish Mountain; brothers: Simon (Aileen) Pitts, New Glasgow; Alphonse
(Jean) Pitts, New Glasgow; sister-in-law, Gertrude Wright, Stellarton;
brother-in-law, George (Mary) Dorrington, New Glasgow; many treasured
nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Frank; father, Simon;
mother, Angeline; brother, Peter; twin sister, Ambie; nephews: Raymond
Pentz and Simon Pitts; and nieces: Karen Pentz, Kathleen and Georgina
Wright.
We wish to thank Dr. Alian, Dr. Kwasnik, Dr. Craig and the
nurses on the palliative care floor at the Aberdeen
Hospital.
We would like to express our love and appreciation for her
niece Wendy who hosted what would be our last family barbeque together
on the Saturday prior to her going into the hospital. We
would also like to thank our very good family friend, Sheri Rose,
whose support and strength helped us get through this very difficult
time.
A Celebration of Angie’s life will be held at Summer Street
Industries on Sunday, August 4th from 1:00 pm-3:00 pm. Donations in
Angie’s name can be made to Summer Street Industries. Arrangements are
under the direction of the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New
Glasgow.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Angeline ‘Angie’ Dorrington 19422019..
