Obituary
André De Sousa passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 surrounded by his children at Toronto General Hospital.
André is survived by his loving wife Oriba de Fatima and children Thomas (Fatima), Lucille (Lou-Ann) and grandchildren Ainslie (Jeremy) and Andrew.
André was born to Maria de Conceicao Gomes and Antonio De Sousa on January 20, 1933 in the town of Posto Santo in the island of Terceira, Acores. He was one of eight children; Camila (deceased), Antonio (deceased), Maria (deceased), Diamantina (deceased), Iria, Carlos and Lucilia. He cherished his brothers, sisters, nephews and nieces.
André married Oriba on June 2, 1957. They immigrated to Canada on February 14, 1960. He was 27. He loved Canada and was so proud to be Canadian. They welcomed a beautiful set of twins (Thomas and Lucille) in January 1965.
André was a loving husband, father and grandfather who loved to spend time with his family and enjoyed listening to Portuguese “Fado” and “Cantoria”. He was a quiet, gentle and humble man who adored animals and had many cats throughout the years. He was especially fond of “Amie” who has kept him company during his illness.
A special thank you to the medical team at the Liver Clinic at Toronto General Hospital and PSW’s over the past couple of years.
We will miss you so much Dad. You will be forever in our hearts!
