Alfreda’s Obituary
SMITH, Alfreda Mable – 97, of Bayside Home, formerly of Clark’s Harbour, NS passed away peacefully after a long and fulfilled life on July 30, 2019. Born on October 23, 1921 she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret (Nickerson) Penney. Alfreda was a very social person and loved having visitors and meeting new people. She enjoyed doing hand work and there are many of her beautiful quilts still on the beds of many family and friends. Alfreda was known as Nannie Fefe to all and loved that honor. She attended the Independent Baptist Church and will be remembered by many as a Sunday school teacher. She moved to Bayside at the age of 90 and one of the highlights living there was attending “the prom” with her date Chris Nickerson. Alfreda is survived by her chosen son, Corey (Shelley); special granddaughters, Suzanne (Stefan) and Jillian (Joe); her precious great-grandchildren, Lucas, Maitlynn, Laila, Lincoln, Kinsley, Levi and Hudson; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Alfreda was predeceased by her husband, Walter; son, Little Edward; brother, Keith; sisters, Ethel and Pauline. Alfreda’s family would like to thank all the staff of Bayside Home for her excellent care, from the time she arrived and took part in all activities until her final days. She was truly a member of the Bayside family. There will be a visitation on Thursday August 1, at H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Barrington, from 2-4 pm. The funeral service will be on Friday August 2, at the H. M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, Barrington at 2 pm, with Pastor Wayne Crowell officiating. Interment in Oakvale Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made in her memory to a charity of your choice. Online condolences may be sent to huskilson@ns.aliantzinc.ca or you may sign the guest book at www.huskilson.net
