Schweitzer, Adolf “Adi”:
1940 – 2019
A fighter till the end, Adi passed peacefully, surrounded by his family on July 8th, 2019 at Innisfree House in his 79th year.
Beloved husband of Elfriede “Elli” for 50 years.
Dear father of Rudi (Karine) Schweitzer, Lori (David) Alten and Annmarie (Craig) den Ouden.
Grandfather of Christopher and Eva Alten, and Kaitlyn and Sean den Ouden.
Uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Son of the late Rudolf and Wilhelmina (Zintel).
Dear brother of the late Siegfried and Rudolf.
A lover of peace, Adi escaped with his brother from East Germany, immigrating to Canada in 1965 as an accomplished wrestler. He established a successful plumbing business in St. Agatha with his wife – a legacy continued by his son.
Adi’s family will receive relatives and friends from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm & 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm on Friday, July 12th, 2019 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Visitation will continue from 10:00 am to 10:45 am on Saturday, July 13th, 2019, with a service in the chapel at 11:00 am. Reception to follow. Private family interment at St. Agatha Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations of gratitude to St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation – Cardiac Care, Grand River Hospital Foundation – Dialysis Unit or Innisfree House would be appreciated. (cards available at the funeral home).
