James B Smith passed away peacefully at the age of 82 on July 2, 2019, after a brief struggle with lung cancer at the Royal Alexandra Hospital.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Evelyn; daughters Cyndi (John) DeLoyer, Jean (Farren) Smith and son James (Kyla). He was pre-deceased by parents Frank and May and sister Jean (Mac) McLennan.
He also leaves behind grandchildren, Crystal (Steven) Buckley, Matthew DeLoyer, Gaby DeLoyer, Rebecca Deloyer and Cassidy Brook; and great-grandsons Jake and Luke Buckley.
In respecting James’ final wishes, funeral services will not be held at this time. The family will be planting a tree in James’ honour on July 21, 2019.
Mourners who wish to do so, may donate to the Cross Cancer Institute through the Alberta Cancer Foundation.
