Charles Leslie Scott

Scott, Charles Leslie (97) of Halifax (formerly Bayside) passed away in Camp Hill Veterans’ Memorial Hospital on July 25. Born in Montreal, PQ, he was the son of the late George and Gladys Scott, Victoria, BC. He resided in Victoria until he enlisted with the Royal Canadian Navy in January 1940, retiring in 1968, as Chief Petty Officer, Sonar Technician, 1st Class. He was a veteran of the Second World War and the Korean War. He and his wife owned and operated the Pine Cone Motel and Trailer Park, Sus, NB (1968-78). He was later employed with the Province of NS Law Courts in Halifax as a Court Clerk (1979-87), and then as a Commissionaire at the Public Gardens until 1999. For many years he enjoyed the winters months in Melbourne, Florida. He was a member of the Canadian Legion, Branch 135, White’s Lake, and also a member of the Atlantic CPO’s Association in Halifax. He was a recent member of Bethany United Church. He is survived by his wife, Marie (Yeadon), of Saint Vincent’s Nursing Home, 2080 Windsor Street, Halifax, B3K 5B2; sister, Margaret Dodd, Canmore, AB, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Shirley Rainey, and brothers, Jack and Duncan Scott. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Dartmouth Funeral Home and a private service will take place later at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Sackville.
