Shirley Wilson nee Johnston July 19th 2019

With great sadness, the family of Shirley Wilson (nee Johnston) announce her passing. Shirley was born in Fenelon Falls, Ontario on February 20, 1954. She passed away on July 19, 2019 at the Pasqua Hospital, Regina, Saskatchewan after a lengthy battle with cancer with her loving family by her side. Shirley leaves behind Ken Janzen, her loving companion of 35 years; loving daughter Christina (Shawn) and granddaughters Jayda and Jordis; loving son Ryan at home and loving grandson Traegan at home; loving granddaughter Charlee at home; loving stepmother and grandmother to her extended family Amanda, Angela, Nikita, Faith, Tyson, Ambria, Ryan, Abigail, and Logan; loving sister of Anne, Joe, Mary Ellen, Joe-Anne Johnston; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Effie and Stan Johnston.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the wonderful staff at the Pasqua Hospital Unit 3B for all their loving and compassionate care that they gave Shirley over the last 6 years on her many visits to the hospital. Thank you to Chaplain Jerry Fitzgerald for his kind words at the time of our great loss and thank you to Kevin and Brent from Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services for all their guidance, understanding and patience. A private family service will be held.
Shirley was an amazing person and a real trooper through the last 6 years, taking on every challenge that came her way and never crying or complaining. We hated watching you suffer but god knew that you were getting tired so he took you home. We can only imagine the homecoming that was waiting for you, mom, grandma, aunts and uncles. Shirley loved the farming life and could tame horses or cows domestic or wild. Over the years she rescued many animals, if she saw an animal in trouble no matter how big or small her big soft heart took over.
She had a gentle but firm way about her that you understood what was expected of you whether it be an animal or family. She was not a huggy kissy person but the love and pride that she had in her heart for her family cannot be matched. When she was young, she said that she didn’t want children, but she raised a beautiful caring daughter, a son and two grandchildren with a loving firm hand. She taught them right from wrong and has prepared them to take their place in the world with confidence. If you visited Shirley at Christmas her home was decorated in every room. We don’t feel that you were with us long enough, we lost you way too soon but we will cherish your memory in our hearts forever.
Memorial donations may be made in memory of Shirley to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Regina Humane Society.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Shirley Wilson nee Johnston July 19th 2019..
