George Brady Hallam Monday July 15th 2019

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. George Brady Hallam of Red Deer, Alberta on Monday, July 15, 2019 at the age of 66 years. George was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta. In the summer of 1971, while working summer jobs at Emerald Lake, British Columbia, he met the love of his life, Marilyn. They were married in 1972, and just a year later welcomed their first set of twin daughters, Lisa and Lori. Shortly after the birth of their children, they decided to move to Kerrobert, Saskatchewan, as George wanted to provide his children a better life away from the city. It was there, that George started his career in the Oil Patch. First, on the rigs, and then as a Gas Plant Operator for EMO Energy, which over the years became Enerplus Energy. In addition to his work, he was an active member of the Kinsmen Club and a Volunteer Firefighter. In 1976, he became a proud father for a second time to another set of twins, Carrie and Colin. In 1980, George transferred to Sylvan Lake, Alberta, as he was eager to return to Alberta and its scenic landscapes. George was a dedicated hard worker and cared deeply for his co-workers, particularly from Tommy Lakes. He spoke often of his experiences there and of the people he considered close friends. George had many hobbies such as; reading, art, scuba diving and travelling abroad with his wife. They became avid adventurers. He loved the outdoors, especially camping, fishing and hiking. George’s biggest passion was for his family. He was a devoted and loving husband. His wife, Marilyn, was his “everything”. He was a hands-on father and took every opportunity to play, read, and spend time with his children. That passion continued with his grandchildren. He was “love” and taught all those around him the true meaning of the word. George will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Marilyn; daughters, Lori Bickert of Red Deer, Alberta, Lisa Krezanoski of Vimy, Alberta and Carrie Hallam (Jeff) of Clyde, Alberta; a son, Colin (Gillian) Hallam of Red Deer, Alberta; and seventeen grandchildren. He will also be sadly missed by his siblings, David Hallam, Doug Plantz, Mike Plantz, Jane Hallam-Smyth, Shirley Milnes and Donna Simmers, as well as numerous family members and dear friends. George was predeceased by his parents, Eve and Byron Hallam. A Celebration of Life will be held at Parkland Funeral Home, 6287 – 67A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer, Alberta, on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. If desired, Memorial Donations may be made directly to the Red Deer Hospice Society at www.reddeerhospice.com.
