Peacefully, on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at the Toronto Western Hospital at the age of 96. He is survived by his loving wife Mary Kuris and is predeceased by Bozena Kuris. He will be deeply missed by his children Ed (Natalina), Steve Jr. (Susan), Richard (Katherine), Debbie (Andy) and step children Margie (Robert) and Kathy. He is a cherished grandfather of Jeremy, Matthew, Stephanie, Sarah, Kevin, Justin, Erin (Chris), Andrea, Julia, Dallas and Monique. A great grandfather to Ethan, Kya, Cole, Madeleine and Emma. Stephen will also be greatly missed by his many friends and family in Slovakia, and remembered for his love of family, friends, Slovakia, hard work, “kibitzing” and willingness to help others. Stephen was extraordinarily generous to his family and his community. He was a life long member of the Canadian Slovak League and a devoted parishioner of Sts. Cyril & Methodius Church. He will be especially remembered for his efforts in support of Slovak newcomers to Canada. Friends may call at the Turner & Porter “Peel” Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga (Hwy 10 N. of Q.E.W) on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-9 p.m. Rosary prayers 8:15 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, 5255 Thornwood Dr., Mississauga, on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at 10 a.m. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. If desired, remembrances may be made to Sts. Cyril & Methodius Church or a charity of choice.
