After a wonderful life, we announce the passing of a gentle, beautiful soul. Tom completed his journey on earth surrounded by the love of his life Sylvia, and the infinite love of his family. Tom and Sylvia shared 67 blessed years of marriage, and due to her love and superb care, his loved ones were able to enjoy many extra stories and hugs. His unconditional love for his children Glenn Johnston (Debbie) and Karen Hughes (Lindsey) knew no boundaries; they will miss him more than words can express. Their days are forever changed, but they will remember how he loved them “mutch” and will continue to seek out his passion for the good life. He was generous with his humour, attention, and encouragement, especially to his grandchildren Lacey (Kyle), Tia (Matthew), Kyra, Kurt (Riley) and cherished great-grandchildren Evan, Aubrey and Ellie who were his little pride and joys. He will be remembered as being a very caring and sensitive friend, co-worker, and boss. Tom was a proud and successful crop farmer and held different rewarding jobs before retiring as Road Superintendent for the Township of Maidstone. He is predeceased by brothers Murray Johnston (Grace) and Norm Johnston. He is devoted brother-in-law to Frank Little (Marie). A heart felt thank you to the 8th floor nursing staff at Met Campus for going above and beyond for “Lucky Tom”, and to the compassionate nurses and volunteers at Erie Shores Hospice for their exceptional care. Visiting at the Reid Funeral Home & Reception Centre, 87 Maidstone Ave. E., Es (519-776-4233) on Monday, July 15, 2019 from 2 pm until the Celebration of Tom’s Life at 4 pm. Cremation to follow.
